Data Center Airflow Analysis

Heat … perhaps the greatest threat to the proper functioning and longevity of electronics. When those electronics are rack-mounted in cabinets, the threat is multiplied … and when the number of cabinets increases, so does the threat. That’s why Data Center Airflow Analysis is of paramount importance to operations that are considered critical. DegreeC offers a line of equipment and instrumentation designed specifically for data center airflow analysis that can provide real-time data on air velocity, air temperature, humidity, and pressure. Specifically, our °C SPAR Sensor Pole Array system can be custom configured to the size and arrangement of your equipment so that it accurately measures airflow and temperature. This data is transmitted with a data collection instrument for immediate analysis using integrated AccuTrac software. This robust software gives you the ability to do detailed data logging and reporting complete with graphs … all of which can be output as a spreadsheet, JPG and a range of other familiar file formats.

We also offer a line of small embedded sensors made specifically for placement on PCB or within enclosures to ensure that dense electronics get the airflow they need. These sensors use dual element sensing technology and can be directly soldered or socketed to your PCBA to manage clogged filters and air flow intake and exhaust disruptions. This insures that filtration performance and the supply of air is not compromised. If air is not moving optimally, the user is alerted to the fact that the fan’s air filter is clogged. Alarms can be set to signal when it’s time to take action to clean or replace a filter, and provides a means for additional control, such as changing fan speed or making shutdown decisions.

What is a Data Center Airflow Analysis?

Data Center Airflow Analysis means taking the necessary steps to collect data and respond to it accordingly so that data center managers can realize thermal efficiency goals in mission-critical data center facilities. Whether they are trying to diagnose cooling failures or deficiencies in their CRAC units, seeking to mitigate a hot spot or thermal anomaly in their facility, or calculate airflow intake at the server-level, DegreeC solutions will help them realize their performance goals.
